WorldRemit Stop Bank Transfers to Zimbabwe

One of the world’s leading remittance companies, WorldRemit, has announced that it will stop bank transfers to Zimbabwean bank accounts.

Global money transfer service provider says it will eliminate bank transfers from Zimbabwe starting June 29, 2022.

According to WorldRemit, the money transfer company made the decision because it did not believe it could provide the best quality services in Zimbabwe.

However, other money transfer services from WorldRemit are still available, including cash pickup, mobile money and showtimes.

The following is part of the news from WorldRemit about the move to cancel bank transfers to Zimbabwe.

At WorldRemit, we pride ourselves on offering the best possible service to our customers. Sometimes that means deleting a service that we don’t believe can provide the best service or the most options for you.

We have decided to remove bank transfers from our services in Zimbabwe. From 29/06/2022, you will no longer be able to transfer money to your bank account in Zimbabwe.

We apologize if there is a problem that is affecting you or a loved one. The good news is that other money transfers, including money transfer, mobile money and showtimes, will still be available. See our website and application for more information.

WorldRemit also ended its relationship with the government -owned National Building Society (NBS).

NBS is a subsidiary of the National Social Security Authority (NSSA), a statutory corporate body commissioned by the Government to provide social security. NSSA is owned entirely by the Government of Zimbabwe.

In another communication, WorldRemit said,

At WorldRemit, we pride ourselves on offering the best possible service to our customers. Sometimes it means removing a service that you don’t believe can provide the best service or the most options for you.

We have decided to remove the National Building Society from various services. From 29/06/2022, you will no longer be able to send money back to be picked up at the National Building Society location.

If you have sent a cash transfer to a National Building Society location, make sure your recipient picks up the money before 13/07/2022.

We apologize if there is a problem that is affecting you or a loved one. The good news is that you can still send money transfers to many other locations.

Just 2 years ago, WorldRemit partnered with Mukuru to offer a comprehensive service to its customers.
